Fa la la la lovely...

Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree... It's that time of year again that the grinch's heart grows bigger and the traditions begin. We cut down Stanly, (yes, I name our trees!) our pretty Christmas tree this past weekend. And here's some shots of him and his lovely friends! (I'll admit, I had fun with some of these!)

The 60's!

I was looking at Kate Ryan's site today and noticed these lovely 60's inspired photos and it got me thinking about one of my favorite Goldie Hawn movies: Cactus Flower! It was her first major role in a movie and she won an Oscar for it. Talk about luck! Major love, peace and inspiration from the 60's.

I'll be a kid again, if I can have a room like this!

In the June/July issue of Cookie magazine, they took a look inside some of the cutest kid rooms. I would never have thought of any of this for a child, but I wouldn't mind redesigning the room I had when I was 6 to look more like this!

inspiration for my living room!

Summer Thornton (who is friends with one of my sister-in-laws) has an amazing interior design company called, Summer Thornton Design. I now have some great inspiration for my upcoming living room redesign. And get this, I fell in love with that wallpaper before I saw her website! It must be fate!

my guest room!

About a month ago my husband and I decided to paint the guest room a dark grey! I was so excited, my house is mostly light-girly colors... LIttle did we know that a week later we'd have house guests. This threw us in a frenzy to redo the guest room. I love challenges and this was a difficult one. I've had a specific look in mind for a while, I just needed to find the pieces.

Cashmere sweaters... the weather is officially getting holidayish

Red Magazine did an amazing cashmere sweater story... so beautiful. The photography is so colorful and vibrant. Makes me want to wear those itchy things!

for the love of old polaroids

(sigh) this takes me back to my grandparent's polaroids and old pictures. I spent hours upon hours looking at them. I don't know what exactly it is, but they mesmerize me. And Emilie'79 (found on English Muse blog) is such an inspiration!

Oh, how lovely it would be to live in this beautiful loft! 

This amazing interior decorator is Heather Garrett, who also has her own shop (by popular demand) in North Carolina. "Her layered approach is most clearly defined by an affinity for using elements of modern design to update classic style and create timeless appeal, while allowing that whimsical flea market find or souvenier from a client’s travels to help evoke the project’s personality."

Love the mix of contemporary and classic, it's an inspiration for my upcoming change to my living room!
